Thanks to the success of the private public partnership, by summer 2010 the airport had already begun receiving regular flights from Russia's largest cities. The new airport is of immense importance to Gelendzhik as one of Russia's major Black Sea resorts. In 2010 the airport had received over 129 thousand passengers.

The new terminal provides full range of pre-flight and post-flight services for the passengers and for people meeting or accompanying passengers. Handling capacity is 140 passengers per hour for domestic flights. The aerodrome's handling capacity is eight take-offs and landings per hour.

The airport runway is currently 3,100 meters long and 60 meters. It is capable of accepting Il-76, Tu-154/204, B737, A319/320 as well as lighter aircrafts.

Basel Aero, the airport operator, plans to bring new carriers in, to expand the route network and introduce additional services for the airport's passengers and partners.
